I read Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell a few months ago. I really enjoyed the book and found the connections Gladwell made to be thought provoking. I thought there was a lot of interesting information in the book and I intend to read it again as it contained many theories that I found fascinating. In reading over a few of the blogs I have subscribed to recently, I found on Scott McLeod's blog (http://www.dangerouslyirrelevant.org/) that Gladwell was the Keynote speaker at the NECC Conference in June. Linked within the blog was http://edinsanity.com/2009/06/29/bummer-boy-takes-on-gladwell-part1/. After reading both the comments on McLeod's blog and those from the edinsanity blog, I was reminded that a single observation or circumstance does not always result in the same conclusion (as a reader may assume after reading several anecdotes in Outliers). I will remove my rose colored glasses when reading again. However, I would still recommend this book.

You are right, Betsy. Even with Bummer Boy's comments it doesn't lessen the impact of Gladwell's book. Bummer Boy might not like Gladwell's conclusions....but perhaps that aren't really conclusions as much as jumping off points for more discussion and research.
